Buyer’s Guide to Choosing Strapping and Buckles
Strapping and buckles help secure cartons, bundles and palletised loads during storage, handling and transport. Insinc’s range includes polypropylene hand strapping, polypropylene machine strapping, PET strapping, metal seals, wire buckles and polypropylene buckles.
Available strapping widths include 9.2mm, 12mm, 16mm and 19mm, with listed breaking strengths ranging from 120kgf to 800kgf. Rolls are available in lengths from 300m to 3000m, depending on the material and application.
Polypropylene or PET Strapping?
Polypropylene, or PP, strapping is available for both manual and machine applications. Hand strapping options include 12mm and 19mm rolls, while 12mm machine strapping is offered in blue, clear and white.
PET strapping provides a higher-strength option for heavier or more demanding loads. Embossed and smooth green PET strapping is available in several widths and listed strengths, including 16mm and 19mm rolls rated up to 800kgf.
Choose the material, width, thickness and strength according to the load weight, stability and handling conditions. The listed kgf rating should not be treated as the safe working load without checking the full product specifications.
Choosing Compatible Buckles and Seals
Light-duty polypropylene buckles are available in 12mm and 19mm sizes, while wire buckles include light- and heavy-duty options. Heavy-duty 19mm metal seals provide another closure format for compatible strapping systems.
The buckle or seal must match the exact strap width, material and tensioning method. For example, a 12mm buckle should not be used with 19mm strapping, and closures designed for one strapping material may not suit another.
Some products are obsolete, so contact Insinc for current alternatives and confirm compatibility with your tensioner, sealer or strapping machine before ordering.
