Buyer’s Guide to Choosing Coffee Pouch Packaging

Coffee pouches help package and present whole beans or ground coffee while supporting freshness during storage and sale. Insinc’s range includes flat-bottom bags, side-gusset bags and stand-up pouches, with valve and non-valve options available.

Sizes range from approximately 250g to 3kg, with brown paper, black, white and silver finishes. Selected pouches also include resealable zippers, while others are designed for heat sealing.

Flat-Bottom, Side-Gusset or Stand-Up Pouches?

Flat-bottom bags provide a stable base and a broad front panel for labels or branding. Side-gusset bags expand as they are filled, making them suitable for larger quantities such as 500g, 1kg and 2kg packs.

Stand-up and flat-bottom zipper pouches can be resealed after opening, helping customers store coffee between uses. Check whether the selected pouch includes a zipper, as several valve bags are specifically listed without one.

Should You Choose a Coffee Bag With a Valve?

Valve bags are commonly selected for freshly roasted coffee, while non-valve side-gusset bags may suit ground coffee, other dry foods or products packed after degassing. Available valve formats include 250g, 500g and 1kg side-gusset and flat-bottom bags.

Choose the pouch according to its stated capacity, dimensions, closure and finish. Several Castaway products are obsolete or unavailable in New Zealand, but current alternatives are offered in cartons generally containing 400, 500 or 1,000 bags.
